All For You Poem by Elorm Dogbo

All For You

May I be a poet
To write you these words,
My love.
In the elegiac part
Of my life,
You arrived.
I was about to die
But because of you
I survived
Tell me if there is anything
I could do
To make you smile.
For this,
I promise
I will sacrifice
When the time comes.

May I be an artist
To paint you a portrait
My love.
Your sweet red lips
That gives a perfect kiss
Could melt down
My hard heart
For your voice
Gives me the joy
Of seeing you around
I will rub
My hands around
Your ripe skin
To raise my sensitivity
And in your absence,
I will fight
In front of the audience
To know how much
I adore you

May I be a seer
To prophesy to you the future
My love.
I even prefer
If loving you is a crime
I will place a ring
On you finger
As the church bells chime
At the hour
Of our wedding
I will wake up on cotton sheets
With you
To see the birds sing
On the tree behind our window
And we will remind the widow
Of the ecstasies
During her time.

May I be a baby
To sleep in your bosom
My love.
Your warmth will be
A haven for me
From the winds of the storms that stole
Itself through the keyhole
As the raindrops beat the roof
So sonorously,
The chilblain is a proof
I am seriously,
In love.

May I be everything
To do anything for you
My love.
Because you are the character
Of the story that my dreams talk about
Thoughts of you are dearer than dearest
To me.
That’s why love had made me,
The baby who would cry for love,
The artist who would paint the portrait,
The seer who would prophesy,
And the poet
Who wrote these words.
All for you.
