All 9 Innings Poem by Adam Chandler

All 9 Innings

All 9 Innings
Load up the bus
Players, coaches, and bags
Getting ready to go to a game
Hoping to get the win
“Play all 9 innings”
We get to the field
We unload the bus
We start warming up
My arm feels a little rusty
I start throwing faster
Throws get longer and more accurate
“Play all 9 innings”
The game is about to start
I’m playing in the outfield
The pitchers doing work
striking out the next 3 batters.
“Play all 9 innings”
Up 3-0 at the bottom of the 5th
Their hitters are hitting good
Our pitchers aren’t pitching good.
We got some more runs
The inning is bottom of 7th
2 innings left
The score was 5-2
“Play all 9 innings”
Next thing I know
It’s 5-5
Their best hitters up to bat.
The pitcher throws the ball.
CRACK!
Its a long fly ball.
I go back till I couldn’t go any further.
The ball kept going farther.
The other team won.
We should have won,
but the problem is that
we didn’t play all 9 innings.
