Treasure Island

greg richardson

Ahhhh

I'm falling
and the tears
blur my eyes
fate has found me
I'm about to die
and then it happens
my arms turn into
wings and I swoop down
above the ground
only to land safely
Somehow.
I am an eagle now
and I jump into
the frosty fall air
and fly away
into the blue expanse
never once
looking back.

Poem of the Day

poet Henry David Thoreau

My books I'd fain cast off, I cannot read,
'Twixt every page my thoughts go stray at large
Down in the meadow, where is richer feed,
And will not mind to hit their proper targe.
