Aftermath (Shots From A Gun) Poem by nicola burkett

Aftermath (Shots From A Gun)

As shots ring out one by one
Someone shouts he has a gun
But the warning I’m afraid has come too late
His trigger finger has sealed her fate
Lying cold and bleeding on the floor
Limp in his arms she feels more
The light that shone bright in her eyes
Faded to grey when she whispered goodbye
