After I Am Gone... Poem by Jacques Sprenkie Mateya

After I Am Gone...

What will happen to my son?

When it’s well and done
Will dust mend in the ground?
Will the ash go to the ashes?
Soil to soil and soul to soul
When it’s well and done
Like the rest.

What will happen to my unborn baby?
Will the baby carry my name until end of time?
Thou know me not.

When I am gone
Will the day be normal?
Sun raising from east and setting in the west.
Will the ocean wave as usual?
Or just water under the bridge!
Live, buried and forgotten

When I am gone,
All is well and done
Will you find solace and consolation in my poems?

When I am gone

What will happen to my country man and women?
Will they find peace in their hearts?
When it’s well and done
