After Effect Poem by Jeannie Jordahl

After Effect

In just a few minutes a little girl's life was ruined.
The six year old became scared and scarred little being.
Life was never going to be the same for her.
The actions of an adult killed her tiny soul.
Taken from her mom and put in foster care for a crime committed against her.
All she wanted was the comfort of her mom's arms, instead she got the anger of strangers.
The little girls life became filled with shame and guilt, for being to weak to protect herself.
A day never goes by without a thought of self-hate, for she became an overweight adult with a never ending pain in her heart.
Depression and anxiety fill her days and nights, too afraid of the world to leave her home.
All because one trusted, grown man couldn't keep his hands off a trusting little girl.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a poem I wrote, because sometimes people judge a person on the outside and don't know what happened to change the inside of the person. I, also, hope to let others know what it is like to be molested and how hard it is to overcome, if ever.
