Africa Poem by Alison Mujati

Africa

Africa

Africa an island of tropika
Home sweet home, not Corsica
Some call you motherland, how sweet.
You're the core, everyone's heartbeat.

How you struggle for legitimacy hurts to the bone.
Trying to find identity yet you possess one.
One they mock you with as if you chose nine.
You're unique and beautiful, next to none.
Remember your people,
Stay strong for them.

You are a continent of black
Black people chose to mock brown.
Black magic, anything evil comes from Africa
Even evil has a symbol of black.
Africa, you are not cursed but blessed instead.
God created your skin for the scorching sun
Staying with you with dark skin makes survival look like in blood.
Remember most precious and black diamonds lie within your veins.
They always come for it to find honor.

You're an unsung hero Africa
No one cannot do without you
Yet in their backyard mock to discriminate you
Some dream of doing away with you but they can't eliminate their hero.
You work hard for the goodness of nature
God created Africa for his nature.
Never cease to be what you are or else your purpose disperse with this wicked storm

Stay strong Africa your house needs you.
Keep giving and your children will learn from it.
Remember, you can only be divided if you choose to separate your people

Maps all over to divide you
When you visit their places
One recognition comes to mind
A black person is here.
It's high time you see light.

I rue time when everyone scrambled for you
The agenda claimed to motivate and change you.
They only came to confuse, steal of and berate your people afterward
No one cares how you do after all.

Your struggle for legitimacy
Your own your place in this world
No one will disqualify you
Forever you shall be
And all hate and hurt will be in vain
You are the greatest Africa, yes you are.
They can't ignore yes they won't
