Afraid Of Me Poem by Jeri Martindale

Afraid Of Me

I think you might be afraid of me. What are you thinking about all those times you tell me you are thinking of nothing.
I do not want our love to die. What can I do to keep the fire alive? What will make you want me more and more each and every day forever?
I just dont think that I could bare to lose you. I would never again come back to reality. I would sit in space forever convincing myself that the view is amazing!
Laying on the clouds, surrounding myself with blue light; I would become cold. But wait, would that dim light still remain this time? Will anyone see it shining down?
I am afraid, afraid to be the person that I know would sweep you off your feet. The one who would make all your fantasies come true. The one who I believe that you are afraid of, are you afraid of me? ?
Please take my hand do you feel that? All you have to do is take one step and I can open your eyes, give you sight. Do you see it?
One more step and I will have you in my grasp, with your hand in mine, I feel alive. Please I just want you to talk to me. What is going on up there in that mind of yours? ? ? ...Silence.
Bright light beaming down on me, do you see me? I don't mind standing in the light so you can stare at me, into me.
Please step out of the shadows. You are so beautiful and powerful. I could stare at you forever without running away.
