Af Rhythmer i Castagnetter

Af Rhythmer i Castagnetter
er Klang i det spanske Sprog;
Det bølger melodisk, som sang det
fra Hjerternes Nodebog.
Det som en Toledoklinge
sig bøier og hugger dog til;
Det Ord har med Janushoved,
til Folkehumorens Spil.
Betragt saa Murillos Madonna,
meer Himmelsk dit Øie ei saae;
Det spanske Sprog maa hun tale,
og Englene det forstaae.

Poem of the Day

poet Charles Stuart Calverley

He stood, a worn-out City clerk —
