Teen years rushed your age
Now at junction of twenty-eight
Long years before you, to tread
You’ve to captain your ship through
Tides of challenges would face you
Welcome them. They teach wisdom
Take the narrow path, taken seldom
Become the best you can be
Take trials of life positively.
Centre God in your life
In all things you’ll thrive
His promises guide your feet
Your path ahead, He’ll light
Making the steps taken, smooth
Experience His presence, in truth
Success would tend along your way
Live your destiny, live His pathway.
Love the lady you marry
Honour and cherish her dearly
She’ll be your strength and fortress
Relieve your life’s many stresses
A happy home she would hone
In her hands, children do proud when grown
Such a lady is a precious pearl
Heaven sent, life-found jewel
Take care of your parents-in-law
You’d be a cherished son-in-law
Your home would be blessed
Find peace and joy: life relaxed
There’s no substitute for hard work
Excel in your career, make your mark
Be passionate, go the extra mile, work hard
Empower team-play, giving your best part
Make the whole world, your playground
Establish career, family on firm ground
But, family life comes first
Career comes only after this
Life is a choice with a purpose
To leave this world, better for others
Be compassionate, reach out
Lend hand to the have-nots
Help some friends along the way
Keep them in mind when you pray
Be mindful of this:
Happiness is like a butterfly
You chase it, higher it will fly
To elude you
Starkly true
But, stand among the flowers
It will come to rest on your shoulder.
Happiness is like a butterfly you chase it, higher it will fly. But, stand among the flowers It will come to rest on your shoulder. I have fallen in love with poem. Paul you are such a daddy. I like the way you have advised your son. I wish every father is reading this advice and follow suit. Thank you Paul
What solid advice by a loving Dad to a son to fare in life..... Nothing has been left out... You have touched upon his physical, spiritual and emotional well being, stressing on the need to develop a tri polar relationship with oneself, God and fellow men..... The concluding stanza is just wonderful! Happiness is like a butterfly You chase it, higher it will fly To elude you Starkly true But, stand among the flowers It will come to rest on your shoulder.
