Advanced Swim Lesson Poem by Stephanie Eve Kane Arado

Advanced Swim Lesson

Advanced Swim Lesson

I remember when you and I took our first lesson
You wore purple and green your hands happily splashing
The water was warm and grandpa, now gone was watching
I hear your laughter. Your little blue eyes were flashing

Next year we found an indoor pool to work on technique
I held you above the water or you played on the stair
Your smile floating on the water as we kicked our feet
Our weekend pool time special and rare

Next we found the summer swim lessons in Round Lake
Each Sunday in the summer we would swim before seven
We met life guards who were returning to medical school
Your mermaid skills increased and the water was heaven

Now after three years of lessons you can dive off the board
This year I registered you for the advanced swim class
Watching you swim among those eight year olds
Brings back memories of the mommy and me class.
