Addiction Poem by Nicola Beckett

Addiction

I tried to lose myself in you,
several times,
You glared at me with eyes all knowing,
Why is it the rain washes all my pain away?
always has,
not the sun, the rain,
my addictions,
your addictions,
addicted to love,
addicted to loss,
addicted to God,
addicted to something,
we all have a vice,
and now he's back,
from the past,
with his voice like gravel.
pleading with voicemails unanswered,
Only I can't think of him,
Only you,
And that too will pass.
