Adapt Poem by Paul Butters

Adapt

When we die,
We either know no more,
Or enter a spiritual afterlife.
Either way,
All we can do
Is Adapt.

If global warming makes the seas rise,
Or burns our exposed heads
We must adapt.

When the sun goes giant and eats the Earth,
We'll have to escape
To the Jovian Moons
Or beyond,
Then adapt.

If we're made redundant
Or retired
Or get a new job
Or get attached,
Move house...
Any change we have:
We must Adapt.

Yes, to Accept and Adapt may be a positive response yet still too passive an approach. We maybe need a new word taking us beyond mere acceptance etc. And what about being proactive? One step at a time however.
