Adam And Eve Poem by R W Burke

Adam And Eve

We came to seek validity
Should world be granted a reprieve
And bring you serendipity
For I am Adam, she is Eve.

We gazed upon, despondently,
The change bestowed our garden green
Perpetual in its infancy
Yet withered by cruel concrete scene

Our wilderness seemed all but lost
As Nature rallied to her dance
To mend what decadence has cost
And stifle that which won't enhance

We saw how surfeit brought defeat
And languished there in avarice
Our spirits dragged their ragged feet
Through that, which was, our paradise.
