Ad Infinitum Poem by Loraine Lotter

Ad Infinitum

Rating: 4.3

Beneath the damage, you can see …
Lying beneath the ashes of the mess I call my life,
you see me …

Cradle my cheek in the palm of your hand.
How can I dismiss the world when right there,
like an angel, you stand?
Prepared to defend for me when I am too weak,
when my body seems too fragile and my voice too mute to speak.

Safeguard me as if I am your own.
Conjoin me to your side so you’ll never let go.
Breathe a new life through the softness of our lips,
as they melt into one another, our ad infinitum kiss.

Because when I was at my most vulnerable,
you helped set me free,
shaped me into the person I knew I had to be.

Beneath the damage, you saw me …
Now with your brilliance brightening my life,
I can see …
