Acts Of The Saints Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

Acts Of The Saints

Rating: 3.5

Of course you knew that your words
flowing freely through cyberspace
would be misunderstood

as they always have been and will be
Mention saints and somehow stone
replicas come to mind

Never mind that stone statues last
while saints words and deeds melt
and dissolve with time

Words and actions of those we call
saints we attempt to preserve in
print and in stone

Though scheming men and women strive
for the laurel crown bestowed by priests
and kings and ignorant mobs

The concepts that motivate the actions
of saints are difficult to discern by you
and me. We are sheep

who look in all the wrong places
We ignore the silent saints among us
who work our salvation

Very nice writing; the last lines are very powerful, we should all notice and appreciate those about us who do such good works towards humanity.

Stellar work here, Mike...Intriguing storyline with strong underpinnings.I think of the likes of a Capone & Gotti...and have seen & referenced as to how they were literally canonized by those who either awed them out of fear or those who were taken care of by them & who held them up as almost God-like figures of malignant breath. This piece moves with cascading fluxion, and is i job well done. ~ FjR ~
