Across The Courtyard Poem by Jorge Rolon

Across The Courtyard

Four years is a long time
A long time to wait for you to be mine
You had me hanging on by a string
Every word had a sort of satisfaction it would bring
You knew just what to say
To keep me from ever walking away
And I never gave up and I never stopped loving you
There's just so much one person can do

My bed still wreaks of you
And I still can't sleep it's nothing new

We were more than waves crashing on the shore
We were reaching for so much more*2
We were more than waves crashing

Every red car that passes is playing with my head
I still find your hair all over my bed
We can't deny that we both know
The flame we had burned out long ago
I guess I'm better of with a few good friends
I guess that it all depends

So busy looking for the lie you can't see the truth
It's like we're just kids stuck in our youth
So busy playing with our imagination
We open the door for temptation
Too much time to think kills
Well never see the sunset over the hills

My bed still wreaks of you
And I still can't sleep it's nothing new

We were more than waves crashing on the shore
We were reaching for so much more*2
We were more than waves crashing
