you are the liquid fire
that lives within us
you are the attire
that cloaks each urchin, stone and coral
magnificently your flames dance to shore
and the spur of white foam in quarrel
with the gentle dance of gold dust
that lines the coast.
seagulls glide
in all their glory and pride
and swiftly swoop down below
to receive the gifts you bestow
each fish, clam, weed alike
welcomes you at the sight
and with every returning ebb
nymphs chase Neptune
with the wax and wane of the moon
what grace you have
in those smoky waters
that run deep
with ecstasy do your crescent waves leap
boasting with sapphire glints
for you beauty is undeniable
as the sea,
