Acep Oldu Halim Bu Aşk Elinden

Acep oldu halim bu aşk elinden,
Göremezem yolum bu aşk elinden.

Bu kamu âlemin tacı iken uş,
Ayaklarda kilim bu aşk elinden.

Garip bülbülleyin zarı kılarım,
Akar gözden selim bu aşk elinden.

Gazel yapraklayın benzim sarardı,
Kararıban ölem bu aşk elinden.

Yarın mahşerde ben yırtam yakamı,
Nice zara gelem bu aşk yüzünden.

Niderem ben yarin vaslından artık,
Büküldü kad balam bu aşk elinden.

Yunus sen Tapdug’una kıl dualar,
Deme ki; ne kılam bu aşk elinden.

The old year went, and the new returned, in the withering weeks of drought,
The cheque was spent that the shearer earned,
and the sheds were all cut out;
