Abiding Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Abiding

Summer ‘s early this year
eager to touch your face
with lilting breeze
posting summer strawberries
to your mouth;
your tongue licking
and I
can only gaze
at summer's love
of you;
I cannot breech
this tableau
keep my hands
by my side
silent witness
to that merger
between you two
and I
understand
Summers Need;

Summer Moons
Summer Rains
Jasmine Flames
leap now
between you
and I
garnished
flowers
blooming round your nape.

I muster
my mouth
giving it to you
muster my hands
placing them
where I and you merge
Mustering Souls
leaping
meeting
insides flaming
beneath summer clouds
and Summer's Suns

your Tiariaed Crown Shining
as I
count these treasures
abiding

these
Thousand Summers

knowing I
I
am a lucky man
abiding.
