A World Of Words Poem by Edwina Reizer

A World Of Words

Lost in a world of words am I.
They've taken over my mind.
They have invaded all of my moments.
I cannot leave them behind.

Sometimes they run into each other
as if to say 'Use me.'
And at other times they're orderly
but they never let me be.

I hear them when I'm wide-awake.
I hear them in my dreams.
I wish sometimes to escape them
but they're stitched up tight at my seams.

No loose threads can shake them loose.
I've tried but to my dismay
they surround the fabric of my being
on every single day.

I've slowly learned to accept this fate
and give into the words I hear.
And as I pick up my pen to write
they finally leave my ear
for a little while.
