A Woman Without A Nose Poem by U Win Kyi

A country Chinese girl
living so poor so poor.
One day while she was asleep,
a hungry rat bit off her nose to eat.
She has no nose since then.
She cannot find a boyfriend.
She walks street to street to find a job,
but is rejected by many a boss.
She is living in misery
as she looks so ugly.

to be seen by the world all over.
She was abused like a slave.
maybe beaten if not well-behaved.
From in-law home she ran away.
But to her dismay,
she was caught and brought back to her husband.
He sent her to judge of clergy man
who dealt her with religious law,
making everybody surprise with awe.
The judge ordered her nose and ears be cut off.
Her husband carried out the sentence with a sword.
After that, in a remote mountain, she was tossed
abandoning her to die of blood loss.
But luckily she was rescued by US soldiers
and was brought to a place much safer.
