A Wish Poem by Robert Dummett

A Wish

I seek the sanction of soul
to rise above decadence:
to abstain from nothingness
that comes from held authority.

I want to look upon the poui
and feel its duty yellowing my soul's hill
and sense deep within my being
the mystery of this fairy land.

I need to look upon stars,
reflecting greatness undisguised
and wear the look of moonlight
in twinkling disguise.
