A War Between The Vanities Poem by Aman Mulji

A War Between The Vanities

I can tell that I once hurt you,
All that pain wounded me too,
I swear I can’t do it again,
Just allow me to take away your mask,
A war between our vanities,
Only leaves me more frantic,
If only you saw yourself,
The way I see you right now,
Maybe the world will be truthful,
For all it has done to you I,
You are now an angel devoid of wings,
Just allow me to take away your mask,
As I know you’re beautiful,
I learn from this unkind humanity,
How to value such a blossom,
How to make you smile within your visor,
I trust to break through the façade,
So that you can see why you’re beautiful,
And you can learn why I want you so,
Just let me take away the mask…
