A Wake-Up Call Poem by Jonathan Zondo

Ambition is all that lies in mind,
But not true as anxiety is, too
Cautious as I wait for the semester to end
Determined that my resolve shall overcome all,
Explaining that I've triumphed and succeeded over all of my demons
Failure is never an option to consider
Generated effort should be in it's place, as always
Humble and gracious for whatever outcome I receive
I accept fate, karma, destiny or doom
January is near as a new year unfolds
Kick my past faults to the side as I wish to start a new
Lend me your hand in guidance for change
Maturity, as well, I yearn to seek guidance to
Nothing less, but surprisingly more,
On my soul, oh, on my soul! I put my desires on thee
Procrastination any longer? I shan’t on my
Quest for success and
Redemption with no exceptions that come to mind
Several punishments I've endured
To only become a better man for it
Uncertain of my future as I may wrong myself again
Valid, as always, but I will strive to resist temptation
Willpower is a virtue that I've been proud of, most certainly
Xu? No, for my confidence is compared to the likes of jadeite and diamonds
Yes! Without exaggeration, but there's one thing left to say:
Zondo, Jonathan Zondo, will change so remember the name.
