A Vicious Cycle Poem by Dr John Celes

A Vicious Cycle

Rating: 4.0

I want to cry but I can only try;
I want to scream but it won’t reach most ears;
I want to scold but many will not change;
I want to curse but it will never work!

I want to bless but people don’t deserve;
I want to fight but win I can’t alone;
I want to rave but all will call me mad;
I want to die but it is not my time.

I want to pray but God works in His time;
I want to change the world for good but can’t;
I want to do much good but never can;
I want to be a better soul but fail.

And so, I put my trust in God and stay;
The world is in a ruin mode for now;
Mere human strength can’t set things right at all;
Just God must heal the wounds of minds and hearts.

The human mind is thinking foolish things;
The human heart has gone bereft of love;
The love of neighbor has been forgotten;
The wrath of God is imminent again.

The common man is poorer and hit hard;
The craze for easy wealth is catching all;
The world believes in cheating, saying lies;
The soul of man is stained by sinfulness.

So, God permits the Nature’s furies more;
But people change for good for short a while;
The shocks that Nature delivers will wane;
And man is back to his foolish ways again.

The heart of man will bounce back into sin;
The wrath of God will rain with increased force;
But God made world with love and loved man most;
God’s mercy follows soon if man relents.

Amazing words in this poem, thank you so much for sharing a poem not so lighthearted, but with a tinge of irony. I love to read thought-provoking poems like this one.
