A Unique Family Poem by Douglas McClarty

A Unique Family

You have been with us all this time
Why do you want to leave us now
Think of our past, our problems we solved
Just crazy, leaving home to live on your own
How do you think we feel, about us splitting up
We shared everything, but do you want more?
The wise have heard empty promises before.

Please take your time, think all of this through
Our union will never be the same without you
I know you will still be there, just next door
But why can't we just stay as we were before
The four of us may have our different ways
But our needs in the past have made us one.

We are a unique family, respected and proud
Pulling us apart, leaving for a promise unclear
Cause us all so much turmoil this coming year
At this time with the problems we all face
Sit down think where we have been together
Don't split us up for others selfish ambitions.
