A Two Month Out Ode Poem by DAVID TERRY

A Two Month Out Ode

</>I can’t let you go
Without letting you know
That I wish I had shown
What for too long I had known
How in all of our stress
I must finally confess
That I know I did wrong
To you for too long

I wasn’t really innocent
You’re blameless that you went
Away from me and what we were
Because you lost the feeling sure
I was selfish and rude
While I tried to be true
But instead I did fail
So you finally set sail

When you wanted me to come
I found reasons and then some
You demanded to be first
But I treated you worst
You asked for devotion
I responded in emotion
You deserved only my best
Instead, I gave you just the rest

I know I’m not responsible
For your sins of which you’re capable
My heart was broken too
Because you too were untrue
But at the end of all things
Still my heart sings
That always I will love you
Even though apart I'll be from you
