A Thousand Words Poem by Nelson Yang

A Thousand Words

They say pictures can hold a thousand words.
So the first time we met I took a picture to keep it in place;
Like the trophies on the shelf they never let you touch,
But always there to show what they achieved.

That was it, you were my achievement;
My opportunity to let others know how much I loved!
How much I ran that moment on and on,
Until I came up with words that made it sound sweet,

I think about it, maybe you are, maybe you aren't,
A picture that just holds a thousand words.
Maybe your that honey that makes our child smile,
Maybe your eyes could be like the rising sun!

But its just not sweet, it's bitter.
It's some prized possession never to be held,
some sentimental memory, a piece of photography!
I spend endless hours rethinking like recalling lyrics of a song,
That I can't ever sing or dance along,
But I have to continue, I have to go on,
Yet I know that I am wrong....

They say pictures can hold a thousand words.
But how could words ever hold me,
Like the way you hold her?
