A Taste Of St. Louis Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

A Taste Of St. Louis

Rating: 4.0

Sing the song
Dance to the beats
The lyrics spring from the hearts
Engaging the willing mouths
Dropping sweats from the heads to the hands
Hitting the concrete floors like rain water
Proof of the energy dissipated
Share in the taste of St. Louis
It is the sweet feeling of the heavenly city.
There are no carnivals
Neither are there bands on the stands
But the beautiful terraces
Streets that share the looks of paradise
And the undulating sky-scrapers
It is St. Louis
Experience the sweetness of sugar
In the colours of skins and the characters of the hearts
Feel the bricks of the towers and the beauty of sublime architectures
The flowing sweet smell of the Mississippi can lure for a dive
It is more than the taste of cubes of sugar in a pack
Jump to touch the towering arch
Then you must an old Olympian
