A Supplication Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

A Supplication

God!
Is your door ajar
To let me in?
I have come to you
Travelling through a labyrinth of ways,
Yet shall you let me in?
My heart is not lily white
Nor my mind enlightened or bright
I have not yet uprooted myself
From mundane earthly things,
Yet shall you let me in?

My mind answered this confusion
With a bit of wisdom,
‘God need not keep His door ajar
For people who have relinquished all sins.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
N.B. I believe God need not keep His door ajar for people who have already attained perfection as they live in God and God in them. However, for the vast majority of people who are struggling and striving to reach Him, His doors will always remain ajar since He wishes that we push it open by our own efforts, for ourselves, and ultimately reach Him.

Prayer is the cry of a soul and keeps heaven's door open The Divine dawns in you when you pray for Grace; when you cry for it........Rajeshji........very well composed......10

A Beautiful poem. Very true said, he wishes that we push it open by our own efforts to reach him. Everyone have to pay for his or her sins in this life itself. No one can escape. Ultimately when one reaches, God will definitely the door will be open for him. Loved reading it.

Though our hearts may not be lily white and though we haven't liberated ourselves completely from our mundane pursuits, God will answer the earnest supplication of a contrite soul and will keep heaven's door open to welcome us! I believe in a God, all forgiving and merciful! Beautiful poem!
