A Stone Griffin Poem by Terence George Craddock (Spectral Images and Images Of Light)

A Stone Griffin

Rating: 5.0

a stone griffin
stern of heart
untouched
by exultant love

sits upon high
sits upon eves
in stone judgment
in heart of stone

face carved
in stone
emotionless
heartless

looking down
all passes
beneath sight
beneath grasp

look up
bodies inflamed
with emotions
passionate

we might miss
the light,
shining forth
from stars,

if we
do not,
raise
our heads,

to greater
expectations
emboldened
stellar blaze

a judge with a heart of stone, the imaginative power here, reminds of Lewis and 'Through the Looking Glass'
