A Sonnet To D Poem by Dean Bottomley

A Sonnet To D

The rain may cool the hidden bashful sun
And grey may be the sky that covers me.
Like tears the water down my face may run
Yet all is light and joy that I can see.
For you alone can chase the gloom away
Lift weather’s veil before my careworn face.
Dispel the grey and bid the sun to stay
And cause my heart to beat a faster pace.
You are the star that opens up my day
The sun’s warm kiss that leads me into night.
The arm around my shoulder as I pray
To give my prayers the strength to reach the height.
Without you by my side I’ll nothing be,
But all’s within my grasp if you’re with me.
