A Sonnet On The Poet's Reaction To Death. Poem by Dan Reynolds

A Sonnet On The Poet's Reaction To Death.

A million candles snuffed out in a flash
may never hold the power of one alone.
The tree falls in the wood without a crash,
unless that tree by many is well known

In isolation, souls may lose their shine,
for mankind needs to socialise to learn
that empathy is "ours" not just "mine"
and wisdom is a prize we all must earn.

We have within us all, a chance and choice
To keep within our hearts, those who have gone.
To make sure others may still hear their voice
And understand why all these stars have shone.

The dead are dead forever, this is true
But their lives and loves, live on, through me and you.
