A Song Of The Poet Poem by Walterrean Salley

A Song Of The Poet

Rating: 5.0

Writing rhymes
Of events and times
Is truly the poet's song.
He speaks of things
Engaging to him—
Both present and bygone.
He tells of what
He actually sees,
And dreams of what
He wishes could be;
He is a dreamer, you see.

When years are gone
And the days seem long,
We love to savor the past,
And find ourselves
Singing a song
That will for ages last.
'The poet's song.'
