A Song In The Wilderness Poem by Yehoshua Shim'onai

A Song In The Wilderness

I'd rather wander
In the scorching Sinai
And be with the One
Who loves me
Who even gave His life
Just to be with me
In heaven
Than stay
In the comfortable Egypt
And be a slave to the one
Who hates me
And does everything possible
To suffer with me
In hell.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I have always describe my youthful Christian life as 'a Sinai experience right after the Exodus.' Just to be honest, it sometimes feels like it would be better for me to go back to where I was. But whenever I think about God's wonderful mercies and faithfulness over me and I remember of how the devil tried to destroy me, I realized that I'd rather be wander through this life's complications with the hand of God holding mine.
