A Soldier Poem by Joe Slone

A single soldier,
stands tall and proud,
upon the field,
his shoulders tall.

Above his brethren,
all whom fought the same,
to protect the lives,
the loves of each man.

Most have families,
or friends really close,
in the thoughts of each,
as each company roves.

Life so complex,
a challenge so fierce,
the hopes of millions,
still lie each.

The soldiers prayer,
is uttered far and wide,
the thought of knowing one,
should fill you with pride.

Fighting for freedoms,
that otherwise would not exist,
all should hold a space in their heart,
for every last soldier regardless
{of who they are}
