A Sister's Song Poem by Sibghatullah Khan

A Sister's Song

My Sweet little brother,
how I love to see you run around the house,
the park, the playground, and be the light
of my eyes! Here I am, your sister,
following your trail, your magical moves!
I'm not as fast as you are,
nor I'm destined to be;
I'm not as strong as you are,
nor I'm destined to be.
I know you are very daring
but I may be just caring:
my eyes ride your back,
lest you should fall,
and you go about your games
and call others wonderful names.

I'm waiting dear brother, waiting
On the margin to take you home
‘fore it gets dark', mother said,
‘fore it gets dark.'
