A Simple Place Poem by David Harris

A Simple Place

The world is such a simple place,
but because we are human
with such contrary natures,
we make this world
a very difficult place.

Our squabbles with neighbours
often leads into wars
that open wounds so deep
generations later feel
they must even up the scores.

We learn nothing from this
and generation after generation
still squabble and squabble
little thinking of what
the outcome may bring.

If only we could learn one day
the world is such a simple place
and that working together
we could live life secure
and all our tomorrows would be brighter.
