A Silly Rhyme To Pass The Time Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

A Silly Rhyme To Pass The Time

I think I'll write a silly rhyme
To help me pass away the time...
I see no fireflies tonight,
Neither stars nor moon are in sight,
Darkness is all I see
And scary shadows
Hiding in the trees
******
(Next day)

The bumble bees have ceased to fly,
There are no rainbows in the sky...
The birds sing no melody,
Perhaps they are lonesome just
Like me,
And yearn for tomorrow
To welcome you home,
I long to hear your voice on the telephone.

(late afternoon)

The day has been busy in spite of my
Complaining,
At least today, it isnt raining.

(At Nursing Home with story hr. children to entertain elderly)

The old folks laughed and clapped their hands,
They thought the children's singing
Was simply grand...
The children sang, 'Jesus loves me' and
The 'Alphabet Song' in the round,
And told the story of the little mouse
Whose family could not be found.
But when the story ended, they were all
Around him, and loved him so,
But soon we all had to go...

(late evening)

And now my dear I'm just killing time
Until you are in these arms of mine...
Hurry, Sunday!
Come on Monday!
Rush in Tuesday!
Oh, no, Wednesday!
What should I do?
Can hardly wait to put my eyes on you.

So this silly thing is coming to an end
But I'm so glad you are my friend,
My buddy, my pal,
I'm very happy to be your
Everything!
