a short and gentle odyssey of modesty

he
feasted
at her table.........
one amply spread
with potions and allusions........

he
placed
flowers
in a chipped glass vase....
wrote
messages in butter,
traced
an alphabet of finger prints
built
finely-structured sugar splints

he
let her weave....play....
tat the lace
that scarcely veiled
a
first-born face.........

later on
they went to bed....
and found that all their fears had fled....

though, first....
she
tucked a napkin
under the cat.....
the one that had n'oily prat

delilah contrapunctal.... yes, that's how I intended to spell it.........
