A Self-Defeating Victory Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

A Self-Defeating Victory

Rating: 4.5

When I said, ‘I hope, '
I really didn't harbour any
But still I went hop, hop,
Hope, hope,
To find water
For my parched throat.
And when I couldn't find any
I cried croak, croak,
Croak, croak,
Like a hoarse frog
In agony
And yet in victory
Of my doomed prophecy!

Interesting read! Even when there is no hope, to plunge into action not losing hope is what is expected of man! Enjoyed the poem with onomatopoeic sounds!

Hopes are the precursors of action and carriers of goodwill. The words and the water narrative lend interesting metaphors to the poem. Thanks for sharing.
