A Secret Poem by Alison Smith

A Secret

Rating: 4.9

Within me lies a secret
Who is there to let it loose
Do we want to know this secret
Or should it be forever bound.

Will opening the door reveal
What has been hiding for all time
Or is this just the key
Is there something deeper.

Will we be opening a Pandora’s box
Will it be a detriment to all
Or is it progress we will be unfolding
Something stronger than all time.

Billowing out of my mind are thoughts and feelings
Are they at all important or are they just a dream
Am I trying to make something
From something that is not.

Maybe I should just let it be......

Come to think about it, poetry is such a nice art and you are hot at creating a work of art.

Well put in this poem.............we all have our 'secrets' and some are meant to be kept as such, thus secret and not to be shared whether for our own or another's preservation.....others are meant to be shared with perhaps but one at the right moment.... I wish I had thought of this one.....Superb! marci m. :)

Secrets, unfortunately they are like a Pandora's Box especially if some are let loose and get heard by the wrong people. Something I can relate to. Loved it and thanks for sharing it. David

The nature of secrets is to secrete, it is unavoidable, and terribly neat just ask the politician of the day who we've decided in public light to flay.
