A Secret Poem by Trey Mitchell

A Secret

I never thought it would be I
The one who would break down and cry
You treated me as though it was a lie
I just wanted to ask you why

You play on my fear, It has become quite severe, My love, the thought of losing you here, and now comes the first tear

This is a secret to which you have been blind
One typically ignored by mankind
But if you would look harder you would find
Love comes from your heart, as well as your mind

You play on my fear, It has become quite severe, My love, the thought of losing you here, and now comes the second tear

In your illusions I am caught
But I never fought
Because you were always in my thought
It is you whom I sought

You play on my fear, It has become quite severe, My love, the thought of losing you here, and now comes the third tear

The other secret? Should I tell?
Listen to this note knell
I am trapped in your hearts cell
On you I forever dwell

You play on my fear, It has become quite severe, My love, the thought of losing you here, and now comes the fourth tear

You are my friend
And it is my feelings that you rend
It was upon you that I depend
And I don’t know if I will mend

You play on my fear, It has become quite severe, My love, the thought of losing you here, and now comes the fifth tear

The thought of you is trapped in my mind’s cellars
Of all my life’s failures
The most painful was today, When your words stung like vipers
I did nothing to stop you, my voice now falters
My love and friendship never wavers

You play on my fear, It has become quite severe, My love, the thought of losing you here
And now comes the sixth tears

Sixth? My disposition alters
The tears fall as cascading waters

Is this love?
This feeling, so strange, I cannot shove?
Winged like a dove?
And flying so high, so high above?

I love you unconditionally
Don’t do this to me
This time flies by briefly

All I see is me with you
And you with me

(This was written for one of my friends, who was going out with another of my friends for a few years, and when the broke up because one of them was playing the other, however he still loved her and asked me to write his poem...he had me write it as the message of...hey I know what you are doing)
