A Riverside Night Poem by Somanathan Iyer

A Riverside Night

The glowing moon scattered clouds
the blowing wind at times gentle breeze
blooming flowers flowing river
smiled the nature with all its charm
a perfect scene to highlight her splendor
when the winds are strong swayed the trees
moving their long shades here and there
the moon lit river with silver surface
carried the waters in a rhythmic sound
breaking the silence croaked the frogs
inviting danger from snakes and night birds
bushes and plants scattered all around
bore the flowers that bloom in the night
the flowers are wild fragrance is mild
carried the heart to a heavenly world!
