A Reverie In Rain Poem by Jeff Siegel

A Reverie In Rain

The clouds grow thick
And start to mass
As your perfume stains my pillow.
While outside the winds blow foul
And bends the limbs of the lithesome willow.

I cup your face and kiss your brow,
And taste the rain that's on your skin.
Like distant thunder on calming seas,
Our feelings are strong, and run akin.

The bedroom curtains start to dance,
And bring the fragrance of magnolia trees.
But in my world, my mind's a trance
Of the tender love surrounding me.

I kiss your lips, warm as wine,
And your smile, like summer sun.
And like the rain that strikes our pane,
Disires are met, and flesh becomes one.

Your delicate hands stroke my thoughts,
And I fall with grace from my reverie.
And like the calm that follows the storm,
My ire is quenched in a sigh of tranquility.

The rain subsides and slows its beat
While smaller droplets start to pool.
They reflect the moon in colors of wheat,
And venus beams like a lusterous jewel.

I take your hand and kiss it soft,
And lay my dreams upon your shoulders.
While outside the winds aloft,
The thunder fades,
And the lightning smoulders.
