A Responsible Scholar Poem by kaavyaa kriday

A Responsible Scholar

In his deep thoughts
He digs his heels deep
About the things he can do
He scratches his head
Reorganizes his thoughts
Over again he ponders…
About the things he could not do
He reconsiders…
With his hands on his chin
If someday he could touch the moon.

Nothing is impossible, my child!
Said his teacher
You have to only dream
There are people, he said
Who climbed Everest
Could soar as a bird
Fly across the sky
You dream of the moon, my son!
It has been achieved
Dreams are infinite.

His eyes brighten
Into a smile
He runs into the air
Like in wild
Reaches his home
Sees his father in a reflective mood
Tries to disturb him…
From his statue
To share his insight for a while
But his father drank his dreams
In a bottle
Philosophically he broods
On the child’s words
He lies there…
In his profound world forever.

Let us teach one to dream
You never know…
Which one of them
Could hear an awakening
And become a responsible scholar
