A Reminder Poem by Summer Sandercox

A Reminder

Rating: 5.0

The poem begins a reminder,
of where we are today,
Our soldiers still at war,
In that desert graveyard faraway.

The cause of this monstrosity was terrorism,
Now our country has been harmed,
So they fight for the lives that were lost,
They're ready and they're armed.

They say we're the home of the brave,
Then why am I so scared?
They caught us off guard last time,
But this time we'll be prepared.

So many friends and family,
Away fighting at sea or fighting on land,
They all fight for one thing,
The people who died and couldn't take a stand.

Please dear lord,
Protect our women and men,
Keep them safe,
I can't take it if I lost another loved one again.

There are some soldiers that I dearly love,
I want them home breathing and alive,
Not across seas,
Worrying if they'll survive.

I will forever support our troops,
They risk their lives everyday.
While we sit in America,
It could be their last day.

Remember this,
Next time you see another death from war,
Our soldiers fight for us,
They will until there is no more.
