A Promise To The Crescent Poem by Dr Shamim ali

A Promise To The Crescent

The People of today just launch tirades, diatribes and talk rowdily!
Do not possess the signs of our freedom,
They have no sense of pride, your beauty they have denied
Like our forefathers and ancestors before us
Who fought to keep the colors of our flag alive
You were there to show who the champion was
When our brothers were martyred you caressed their bodies with intense pride
It may be just a cloth of colors, but it stands for our freedom and honor
We must request our leaders to debate, and change our flag’s ultimate destiny
My beloved crescent, this promise I give, to hold you high and let you live
My words to you are profound and I shall keep your colors off the ground
Will guard and protect your moon and star with all my strength…!
