A Promise Poem by Abdul Wahab

A Promise

Made a promise to night, not to anyone but to myself
Till the sun keeps rising in the east and setting in the west
I won’t slander any one any more
In life I won’t spread lies
On any clan or race
Before blaming any one I would think twice
What I could do more or what would have been done better
In the garb of free speech
On any religion or group I won’t talk any ill further
Out of jealousy or envy I won’t do anything any more
I won’t paint any image
Or write any piece
That would not receive or go down well
That would hurt people’s sensibilities.

A good promise indeed and a very thoughtful poem too
